| Military: | Thomas enlisted at Norwich, Norfolk on 1 November 1915. - joined the Royal Engineers, Sapper 85759 and served on home soil till 19.09.1917. From 15 December 1915 to 29 December 1915 Thomas was in Sutton Veny Hospital with influenza. He was transferred on 20 January 1916 to the No. 1 Depot Co. Royal Engineers. He was transferred on 18 September 1917 to the 8th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment and was part of the B.E.F. from 20.09.1917. He was transferred on 19 September 1918 to the 239th Light Railway Foreward Co. Royal Engineers, Sapper WR283595, and posted there the following day. He was demobbed on 14 July 1919 and transferred onto the Class “Z” Army Reserve. Thomas’s service record, although extensive, is somewhat disorgainsed with someparts unreadable. |
